The Foundation for Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University
The Foundation for Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University has historically supported the publication of legal literature through two series: The Legal Science Library and Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law. The foundation operates as a business entity but, unlike commercial publishers on the market, it is not driven by profit. Revenues from e-book sales finance the production of new titles and are distributed to the authors in the form of royalties.
By reducing the number of intermediaries, the foundation is able to keep prices low for new publications—particularly for e-books used as course literature. Since the end of 2023, the foundation has focused its efforts on publishing open access e-books (as well as print-on-demand) in collaboration with Stockholm University Press, within the framework of its own series: Stockholm Law Series. All new publishing projects are carried out under that name and in accordance with Stockholm University Press’s publishing guidelines.
Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law
The series Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law has long served as the primary outlet for a wide range of publications, including both research-based works and textbooks. Since 2024, the Foundation’s publications have been incorporated into the Stockholm University Press Legal Series, which the Foundation has helped establish. In collaboration with juridikbok.se, we have also worked actively to digitize our publications and make them more widely available.
The Legal Science Library
The Legal Library constitutes a jurisprudential library in digital form. The library is operated by the Foundation for Publications Issued by the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University. The Legal Science Library has traditionally focused on publishing doctoral theses defended at the Faculty of Law, Stockholm University. In recent years, efforts have been made to digitize as many of these works as possible in order to increase accessibility for a broader audience.
